20. World´s End Girlfriend –  Whims of A Spring Day「春日狂想」feat. BOOL ( Voices Of  Days Past ) Poemcore is the name of the genre BOOL is trying to establish. I can´t say for sure what it is that distinguishes Poemcore for other spoken word enterprises, but if I had to pick, I´d say it must be the deep weaving of sound to create a texture beyond the words. On the tracks Whims of A Spring Day the words and sounds are heartbreakingly beautiful. World´s End Girlfriend contributes a quite conservative instrumental, keeping the electronic glitches on a low and letting the piano and strings take the lead. BOOL`s poem touches on keeping on living after a loved one has died. First, stating that there is no other way than killing oneself, he transgresses into the notion of having the urge to serve after this tragedy has befallen you. Top Tracks 2016 Part IX 20 – 11

20. Allan Kingdom – Fables ft. Chronixx ( Northern Lights ) This is Kingdom at his most introspective, while at the same time not compromising on the melodic and catchy quality of his songs. The atmospheric and almost ambient keys and altered vocals are contrasted with a menacing bass line and snappy snares for the full effect of delivering the same broken aggression the lyrics convey. I´m not a huge fan of religion and we see Kingdom recounting the smoke and mirrors of his own experience with Christian belief. Chronixx complements this with his reggae-infused deliverance, calling out the intrusion of Christianity and in right manner swearing allegiance to Selassie and the Rastafari movement. The fitting aural experience for realization and the overcoming of submission stressed by the stunning visuals. 19. 20. Playboi Carti – Shoota (feat. Lil Uzi Vert) (Die Lit)  Lil Uzi and Playboi Carti really come off as brothers in spirit, in their solo work and especially in their collaborations. “Shoota” shines in a power that is life-affirming and strongly addictive. In under three minutes Uzi sings a verse that embodies his wild dances on Instagram and his stage show alike and while Carti´s hook slightly fails in topping off the energy, the sketch-like nature of the song, it appearing and closing in the blink of an eye is the singular representation of  youthfulness the two rappers combine on their tracks. Their music never has to be deep and meaningful, but energetic and affective in their simple disregard for structure and hip-hop tropes, a small symphony of improvisation and style and swagger. 19.
